- Tape or glue
- Scissors
- Scarf
- Hairpins or clips
- Rubbing alcohol/sanitizer
- Hair-dryer
- Fine tooth comb
Always cleanse the area around the hairline before application. Rubbing alcohol is a good preparation for removing excess oil from the area where the lace is to be applied.
- Using a cotton swab or applicator brush, apply a thin layer of glue around the perimeter of the hairline. Use a hair dryer on low power to dry the glue until it's not completely dry but tacky. Do NOT glue a lace wig on wet glue, the wig will not set properly and stick well. The area should be sticky to the touch.
- Once your glue is ready to apply, you need to position the lace wig on your head. To make sure it is properly aligned, you must first glue the wig to the center of your front hairline. (The center point can be determined by parting the hair down the middle and aligning it with the center of your forehead or widow's peak). Then, working from side to side, press the edge of the wig into the adhesive using a fine-toothed comb.
- Check your hairline again and touch up any areas where the wig is not properly applied. If you need to remove excess glue, use nail polish remover.
- When you are done with the application process, tie your hairline with a silk or satin scarf. This will allow the glue to set and dry properly. You can also sit under a blow dryer during this step to help the drying process.
Applying the lace wig with tape
- Cut the tape into the desired shape, you want the tape to go around your hairline.
- Remove the paper from one side of the double sided tape and apply the tape strips to the perimeter of the lace wig. Press firmly in place. *IMPORTANT: Leave small gaps between the bands to allow water to escape, if you are going to wear this wig for long periods of time.
- Place the lace wig on the head, and starting in the center, work from side to side, pressing down the wig in sections with a fine-toothed comb. Press firmly for 30 seconds.
- When you are done with the application process, tie your hairline with a silk or satin scarf. This will allow the glue to set and dry properly. You can also sit under a blow dryer during this step to help the drying process.
